Father Adam Tabak, 54, Pastor
of St. Leopold Mandic Croatian Parish in Ottawa died in Zagreb's Fran Mihajevic
Hospital on Monday, December 14, 2015 after a brief illness.
Born on August
19, 1961, in Djakovo, Croatia, he was ordained a priest in the cathedral there
on October 1, 1987. He served as assistant parish priest in Valpovo and in a
parish in Luc, and then was parish administrator in Petlovac.
On August 15,
2000, he became pastor of St. Leopold Mandic parish for Croats.
Father Tabak's
funeral took place on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 in the parish church of Đakovački Selci, followed immediately by burial
in the local cemetery.
A Memorial Mass will
be celebrated at St. Leopold Mandic Church, 170 Hinchey Avenue, Ottawa, at 7PM
on Monday, December 21, 2015.

Deepest sympathy to his family and Dioceses. May he truly reap the reward of his work in the Church. The ways of the Lord are difficult to understand, one might think; called away too young.
ReplyDeleteFather Adam was truly a solid pilar in our Croatian community;spiritually and socially he could always be counted upon for anything and everything that an individual would ever ask of him. He was a definite leader and truly a great man, the essence of a well grounded and spiritual man. My family and I will miss him tremendously. My eldest son who is only 10 was particularly fond of Father Adam and so was I.

We are so saddened by the news of Father Adam's passing. He was such a gentle and pleasant person to deal with. He christened our son in a beautiful and private ceremony. We have such wonderful memories and pictures with him. We are heartbroken by this news. God Bless our Father Adam. A great priest for the Croatian community.
ReplyDeleteA humble man who showed us how to walk in the ways of Jesus. He embraced the community by his dedicated servitude of pastoral service. One can only surmise that he was needed in heaven and is being richly rewarded. May God bless him and we shall see him again one fine day. I love you Father Adam.
